LEARN • Joplin Library/Theater

At a previous company one of the Principals was involved with the early development of this project. Throughout early conceptual design the Principal of Collins | Webb Architecture helped shape this project. The knowledge gained from working on this project was invaluable to the professional growth of the Principal involved. Images Courtesy of Hoefer Wysocki Architecture. The project details are below:

As a conceptual study for a Joplin Missouri replacement library. This unique concept was comprised of 52,000-square-foot of lower level open library space with shared amenity rooms open to the public. The upper level houses a 12-screen theater complex with VIP auditoriums to be used as learning labs in conjunction with the library services. The nature of this project lead the team through a vast study to understand acoustical isolation and separation solutions in order to acoustically isolate the two unique program uses.

The site study included provision for an onsite parking garage and numerous pad site locations for additional entertainment and retail spaces. A large pedestrian circulation promenade is used to connect the phase II retail development with the library and theater complex.
